My Pre-existing Condition
I’ve had diabetes for decades. In my case, I’ve been able to manage it well and am healthy and feeling great. I’m also lucky to have good insurance through my current employer.
Now, millions of people like me with pre-existing conditions are once again about to face an enormous burden of even higher health care costs and poorer coverage.
President Trump’s latest moves—to allow insurers to segregate pools of “healthy” people from those who have pre-existing conditions—will bring us back to the days where even minor or manageable injuries and illnesses become financial catastrophes.
Republicans in Congress are no better on this issue, having spent the last seven years trying to end the ACA and put the control of health care back in the hands of insurance accountants.
Punishing people for their pre-existing conditions is a cruel practice and one that will affect Democrats, Independents, and Republicans alike.
Click here to help me become a voice in Congress for those who have pre-existing conditions, and work to improve, not destroy, the Affordable Care Act.
