Cook Political Report Moves FL-06 Race in Soderberg’s Favor

October 23, 2018

Daytona Beach — Today, Cook Political Report, one of the leading sources for analysis on House races across the country, dramatically shifted Florida’s 6th Congressional District  towards Democratic nominee and former Ambassador Nancy Soderberg – moving the race from “Likely Republican” to “Lean Republican.” The district went for Trump and previous incumbent Ron DeSantis by 17 points. This is Cook Political Report’s second shift of the cycle in this race.

“This rating change reflects what we’re seeing on the ground: Voters are hungry for change and ready for a new direction and new leadership,” Soderberg said. “Our campaign is transcending party lines because we’re talking about and fighting for the issues that affect every family’s well-being: protecting health care, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and creating jobs you can raise a family on. I’m running to represent every person and every family here, not just Democrats, Republicans, or Independents, but every family.”

Cook Political Report’s race rating change comes after three polls showed Soderberg and her opponent in a dead heat. Soderberg has also raised nearly $3 million over the cycle and has consistently outraised her opponent every quarter.
