AFSCME Florida Endorses Nancy Soderberg for Congress

Daytona Beach, FL – Today, AFSCME Florida announced its endorsement of FL-06 Democratic candidate, Nancy Soderberg, for Congress.

“AFSCME Florida is proud to endorse Nancy Soderberg, who will fight side by side with us and make sure we have the freedom to organize, collectively bargain and stand up for our rights,” says Jana Weaver, AFSCME Florida’s Executive Director. “Nancy will fight to stop the assault on workers and do everything she can to provide people with the freedom and opportunity to join the middle class.”

“I’m voting for Nancy because she’s smart, hardworking, listens to the people in our district and understands what working class folks are up against,” says AFSCME Local 167 President Kevin Butts. “Nancy wants to fix our health care system, protect our pensions and make sure our economy works for everyone, not just the wealthiest 1 percent.”

AFSCME Florida’s announcement adds to Soderberg’s growing list of endorsements, including Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry, Rep. Patrick Henry, Rep. Joyce Cusack, Eustis Mayor Rob Morin, and Florida Young Democrats. She’s also been named to the DCCC’s Red to Blue list, and has amassed endorsements from Vice President Joe Biden, International Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, Emily’s List, End Citizens United, Foreign Policy for America, and NARAL, among others.

“I’m proud to have the endorsement of AFSCME Florida,” said Soderberg. “We share a deep commitment to fighting for workers’ rights, better wages, and an economy and society that work for everyone. As a U.S. ambassador abroad, I fought for labor rights around the globe. In Congress, I will continue to fight for our workers’ rights because America is strong when our workers thrive.”
